Most definitely an event for all abilities, run 1 race or all 4. If you’ve never done cross country before, this is a great place to start! As with most cross country races, the ladies and men’s races are held separately, so the men will cheer and support the ladies while they are racing, and vice versa. And cake is particularly encouraged at Cross Country events!!!

South Yorkshire Road Race League

A series of 4 races, each 5 miles long.
When: March to May
Day: Wednesday evening

Open to all abilities, see criteria below.

Due to the league’s popularity, we are allocated a set number of places, based on the number of first claim members.
We use the following criteria for places in order of priority:
a) Members who got 200 or more points in the previous year’s club championships and intend to run the series.
b) New members since the previous membership renewal who want to run the series.
c) Other members who definitely want to run the entire series.
d) Members who will definitely run a minimum of 2 races.
We also look at ensuring a balance across the three race categories of Senior Men, Senior Women and Veteran Men for the team awards.

Sheffield Open Cross Country Races

When: Late December or early January
Day: Saturday
Where: Graves Park Pavilion, Sheffield

This is our own hosted cross country event, and on a slightly smaller scale than the other cross country races, so a great race to run if you want to try out cross country. Due to it being held near Christmas, there is no guarantee on conditions – we’ve had torrential rain, snow, and near-dry courses in previous years!

The senior races are our club cross country championships, with the leading man winning the Harry Charles Cup, and the leading woman the Linda Broddle Memorial Trophy. Presentation of the trophies will be at the AGM. The winner of the Senior Mens race will be awarded the Harry Whitehurst Memorial Trophy on the day.
